Peter Caproni played at senior professional level with Stirling Albion and Alloa Athletic and, although illness then injury cut short his career as a player, he spent over thirty years in the professional game.
As a qualified Fitness and Sports Therapist, he worked on the back-room staff of six senior clubs including Dundee FC. In his two and a half seasons at Dens Park, under, initially, Jocky Scott, to be followed in quick succession by Dave Smith and Gordon Wallace, Peter established a coaching class for Dundee FC at Stirling University. Peter supported first, Bobby Glennie, then the late Bert Slater and finally Billy Kirkwood, on a Saturday with the reserve team.
Before taking up his part-time role with Dundee, Peter spent seventeen seasons at Stirling Albion. After Dundee were relegated in 1989-90, the reserve team started to play their games in mid-week which was inconvenient for and clashed with work commitments, so he accepted Alex Smith's invitation to take up a similar position at Aberdeen.
Peter spent two seasons helping Willi Millar with the reserves before being invited back to Stirling Albion by John Brogan to take up the position of Youth Development Officer and establish the Albion youth policy. Two of the youth players signed by Peter were later sold on for around £200,000, a significant sum of money for a club like Stirling Albion.
After five seasons, Peter joined Eamonn Bannon's Falkirk FC as u/18 Youth Coach, then had a season at East Fife coaching their u/21 side during Jimmy Bone's tenure. When Jimmy Bone moved on to take up the position of assistant to Jocky Scott at Dens, Peter took up a scouting position with Luton Town.
Peter has worked with fourteen different managers including the late, great Bob Shankly for twelve years at Stirling Albion.
Away from football, Peter was a Director of a company selling Health & Safety products and now runs his own Sports Injury Clinic in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire, aptly called, The Treatment Room.
During his time in professional football, Peter's love of Dundee Football Club remained, and on retiring from the game in 1999, he has seldom missed a game home or away and is a season ticket holder at Dens Park.
